Founded in the year 1872, Aberystwyth University holds the accolade of being the first university established in Wales. As part of all degrees studied at Aberystwyth University, students have the opportunity to study a year’s work placement to help bolster their employability upon graduating. Not only is the town of Aberystwyth famed for its beauty and calming coastal atmosphere, but the town itself is also home to one of the UK’s five copyright libraries, the National Library of Wales, and is home to the largest Arts Centre in Wales. Services for International Students

Aberystwyth University boasts a number of almost 2,000 international students, a large population for an otherwise small coastal town. A dedicated international office is located on campus to answer student questions regarding matters surrounding visas, accommodation, and banking.

 

Accommodation

Accommodation is always granted to first-year students should they require it. Furthermore, accommodation is provided to all international students (not including students from the EU) for the duration of their studies. As Aberystwyth is a quiet and peaceful town, the cost of living is lower than in other places in the UK. Accommodation staff at Aberystwyth University are always willing to assist students with any queries that they may have.

The town of Aberystwyth lies in the centre of Wales on the coast overlooking Cardigan Bay. The town is a popular tourist attraction in the Summer months, famed for its serene beauty and calming beaches. The nearest airports are located in Manchester and Birmingham.
