Overview
The University of St Andrews is the third-oldest university in the English-speaking world and the oldest in Scotland. The University can trace its roots back to 1413 and has been providing students with high-quality education for over half a millennium. The University welcomes 9,100 students from over 130 different counties, contributing to the diverse makeup of the student population. St Andrews also has a number of opportunities for undergraduate students to spend a full academic year studying abroad, in destinations around the world.
Services for International Students
English language lessons in the form of pre-sessional and in-sessional courses are available for students who require assistance with their English language skills. A dedicated team of staff are on hand to assist students and support them during their time at the University. Additionally, all undergraduates are assigned an Adviser of Studies whom they must see at the start of each semester to discuss their choices.
Accommodation
Accommodation at The University of St Andrews is available to all students during their first year of studies. Accommodation is situated around the town of St Andrews rather than in one campus location. University of St Andrews residences range from beautiful stone-built listed buildings full of original period features to stylish new apartments, built to high environmental and sustainability standards.
Location
St Andrews is located on the East coast of Scotland overlooking one of the stormiest oceans on Earth, the North Sea. The town is relatively small in size and houses a traditional sense of Scottish culture and tradition. The city is located close to the cities of Edinburgh, Dundee and Perth, proving students with access to some of Scotland’s liveliest locations.
